One district court, many divisions
The 67th District Court covers the whole county through separate divisions. The division on your paperwork depends on where the case arose, but we serve wherever the person lives or works in the county.
PROCESS SERVER · MICHIGAN
Genesee County is centered on Flint and its suburbs, from Burton and Grand Blanc to Fenton, Flushing, and Davison, with smaller towns and farmland toward the county’s edges.
Circuit and probate cases are heard at the Genesee County Courthouse in downtown Flint, and the 67th District Court handles district cases through divisions around the county. We serve the people in those cases, and in cases from any other Michigan court, throughout the county.

WHERE WE SERVE
COURTS
Filing in a court outside this list? We can still serve a defendant who lives or works here. Service follows the person, not the court.
LOCAL DETAILS
The 67th District Court covers the whole county through separate divisions. The division on your paperwork depends on where the case arose, but we serve wherever the person lives or works in the county.
The City of Flint and Flint Township are different places with different district court divisions, and the same goes for Grand Blanc and Grand Blanc Township. A full address with the city or township name helps.
If you have more than one possible address, a workplace, or a phone number, include them in case the person has moved.

FAQ
General information about Michigan court rules, not legal advice. Your attorney or the court clerk can answer questions about your specific case.
Under MCR 2.103(A), any legally competent adult who is not a party to the case, or an officer of a corporate party, may serve process. Writs of restitution and orders requiring arrest must be served by a sheriff, deputy, or court officer.
Landlord-tenant summary proceedings follow MCR 4.201(D). The summons and complaint are mailed, and also delivered personally, left with a household member of suitable age, or, after diligent attempts, securely attached to the main entrance of the unit.
If personal service can’t reasonably be made, MCR 2.105(J) lets the court order another method on a verified motion. We document each attempt, which helps support that motion.
Under MCR 2.102(D), a summons expires 91 days after it is issued. If you’re close to that date, tell us so we can plan the attempts around it.
A signed proof of service stating how, when, and where the papers were delivered and to whom. MCR 2.104(A) accepts a verified statement from the person who made service.
