One courthouse downtown
The circuit, probate, and district courts are all in the Jackson County Courthouse at S. Jackson and W. Wesley streets.
PROCESS SERVER · MICHIGAN
Jackson County is centered on the City of Jackson and the townships around it, with lake communities and small towns like Grass Lake, Brooklyn, Napoleon, and Spring Arbor farther out.
All three of the county’s courts are in the Jackson County Courthouse at 312 S. Jackson St. We serve the people in those cases, and in cases from any other Michigan court, throughout the county.

WHERE WE SERVE
COURTS
Filing in a court outside this list? We can still serve a defendant who lives or works here. Service follows the person, not the court.
LOCAL DETAILS
The circuit, probate, and district courts are all in the Jackson County Courthouse at S. Jackson and W. Wesley streets.
Many homes in the surrounding townships have a Jackson mailing address. The township name, if you know it, helps us find the right street.
Around the county’s lakes, some homes are seasonal. Tell us whether the person lives there year-round or has another address.
WHAT WE SERVE
Most assignments are one of these. Have something else? Send the details and we’ll let you know.
Personal delivery to individuals, and service on businesses through an officer or registered agent.
Witness and records subpoenas. Tell us the appearance or production date and whether a witness fee is enclosed.
Divorce complaints, custody and support filings, and motions, handled with discretion.
Summons and complaints in summary proceedings for landlords, property managers, and their attorneys.
Small claims affidavits and summonses when you’d rather not rely on certified mail.
Use the online form or email the documents with the name, address, and your deadline.
We review the address and timing, then confirm pricing and instructions before starting.
Attempts follow the plan and instructions agreed for your assignment.
You receive a signed proof of service stating when, where, how, and on whom the papers were served.
FAQ
General information about Michigan court rules, not legal advice. Your attorney or the court clerk can answer questions about your specific case.
Any legally competent adult who isn’t a party, or an officer of a corporate party, under MCR 2.103(A). That’s why law firms and individuals alike use a process server rather than serving papers themselves.
Usually not. A summons, complaint, or subpoena can be served by a private process server. The exceptions in MCR 2.103(B) and (D) are writs of restitution, seizures of property, and anything requiring an arrest.
We record the date and time of each attempt and follow the attempt plan we agreed on with you. If the person can’t be reached, that record supports a motion for alternate service under MCR 2.105(J).
Under MCR 2.105(D), a corporation is served through an officer or its resident agent, or through a director, trustee, or the person in charge of an office, combined with registered mail. LLCs follow a similar rule in MCR 2.105(H).
