PROCESS SERVER · MICHIGAN
St. Clair County runs along the St. Clair River from Port Huron, at the foot of Lake Huron, down through Marysville, St. Clair, Marine City, and Algonac, with farm towns and townships inland.
Circuit, district, and probate cases are heard at the St. Clair County Courthouse in Port Huron, and the 72nd District Court also has a location in Marine City. We serve the people in those cases, and in cases from any other Michigan court, throughout the county.

WHERE WE SERVE
COURTS
Filing in a court outside this list? We can still serve a defendant who lives or works here. Service follows the person, not the court.
LOCAL DETAILS
The 72nd District Court sits in the county courthouse in Port Huron and also at a downriver location in Marine City. Check which one is on your paperwork before a hearing.
Harsens Island is reached by ferry, and many river homes have seasonal residents. Tell us whether the person lives there year-round.
Away from the river, homes in townships around Yale, Capac, and Emmett can sit far back from the road. A description of the house or a landmark helps.

FAQ
General information about Michigan court rules, not legal advice. Your attorney or the court clerk can answer questions about your specific case.
Under MCR 2.103(A), any legally competent adult who isn’t a party to the case, or an officer of a corporate party, may serve process. The rule is the same in every Michigan county.
Yes. Service follows the person, not the court. Papers from any Michigan court can be served on someone who lives or works in St. Clair County.
Not for a regular civil summons. MCR 2.105(A) calls for personal delivery to the defendant or restricted-delivery mail, unless the court orders alternate service. In eviction cases, MCR 4.201(D) allows delivery to a household member of suitable age.
Under MCR 2.102(D), a summons expires 91 days after it is issued unless the court orders a second summons. Landlord-tenant summary proceedings aren’t subject to that deadline.
Michigan’s rules don’t set a fixed number. We agree on the number and timing of attempts with you before we start.
